Past 10.12.2002- U.I.S.D Marching Festival- Congratulations to United for taking "Best Percussion" award. Your hard work has paid off. Also congratulations to the top 3 bands: Alexander (1st), Nixon (2nd), United (3rd). 10.14.2002- J.W. Nixon Marching Festival- Congratulations to United for once again taking the "Best Percussion" award. Congrats also to the top 3 bands: United (1st), Alexander(2nd), United South (3rd). 10.18.2002- J.W. Nixon vs J.B. Alexander Football Game- UISD Sports Complex 10.19.2002- U.I.L Marching Band Contest- Robstown Stadium. We are proud to announce our hard work paid off in earning us a I (ONE) rating, making it our 19th year consecutively! This means that we get to advance on to Area G contest in hopes of making top 4 bands out of 24 to advance on to State Marching Contest. Good job Nixon Band. Drumline: we rocked!
10.26.2002- Area G Marching Band Contest- McAllen Stadium Congratulations to the top 4 bands that advanced on to State Marching Contest. These bands are: Brownsville Hanna, Harlingen, Victoria Memorial, La Joya (also congrats to Donna for placing 5th, being the alternate band for state). Personally, I feel we all tried our best out on the field at Area, despite the fact that we could have given a much better performance on a non-muddy dry surface (as well as all the other bands of course). Furthermore, we STILL held through, remained focused, and wanted it bad enough to where we gave it our best. I really could see it in everyone's eyes, along with the effort and dedication. As far as the results for us at Area G, we ended up 8th place out of 20 bands. One of the judges actually had us ranked 4th place. I want to give props to the other bands in town: Alexander (12th), United (13th), Martin, United South, Cigarroa. I feel that each and every band did good this year, all the shows were cool, well-executed, and exciting. I have nothing but compliments for all the other bands.
