Because of this we now go on to U.I.L Area, where we will hopefully place 1st like two years ago and advance on to State Marching Competition. 10.28.2000- U.I.L Area Marching Contest was held in: Alice, TX | Sadly, we didn't make it to state this year. However, we needed to be in the top 6th place (7th place being alternate) to advance to state, and we placed 8th. Although it was tough this year, it was a very good performance, and we're glad of all the effort that was put in by each and every member of the Nixon Band. We'll just have to try harder in 2 years. But overall we did a great job!
11.23.2001- Football game: Nixon vs. Edinburg- We marched onto field forming "NIXON" during halftime and played a few selections. (Shirley Field) 11.17.2001- Football game: Nixon vs. Harlingen- This game took place the day of district tryouts so there was only like 1 snare, 2 basses, and 2 cymbals that ended up showing up. Congratulations to Raul Liendo for advancing on to Region try-outs. 11.10.2001- Football game: Nixon vs. Martin (big rivalry game)- We marched onto the field in block formation and played The Horse as well as our fight song. After halftime performances, we got to jam with the Martin Drumline. 11.3.2001- Football game: Nixon vs. Alexander- We'll most probably march the full show during halftime. 10.27.2001- Football game: Nixon vs. United- We had a combined halftime performance with the United Band and played 3 patriotic songs. We also got to "mingle" with the cool members from United Drumline after the performance. 10.20.2001- U.I.L Region Marching Competition @ Robstown- WE GOT A I (ONE)!!!!!!!!! This makes it our 18th year consecutively.
Congratulations to Alexander, United, and United South bands for also accomplishing a I rating. Speaking for all bands in Laredo, we worked very hard this year (and I could tell by all the awesome performances from every school). Regardless of whether we did good, bad, or decent this year, the most important thing is knowing you gave it your best out on the field.
10.19.2001- Football game: Nixon vs. United South (Homecoming Game). We had a post-game performance and played our full show. Great job band let's perform like that at Robstown today. Congrats to Adela, the first band member in history at Nixon to make it in the top 5 for homecoming. 10.13.2001- Crossroads Marching Competition @ Robstown- We performed at around 8:00PM. Congrats to the Harlingen Band for winning it as usual. 10.12.2001- Football game: Nixon vs. Cigarroa- We performed parts 2 and 3 of our show during halftime. 10.8.2001- J.W. Nixon Band Festival- Congratulations to the Alexander Drumline for being awarded the best one at the competition! You guys rocked the stadium! United also rocked but not as much as Alexander did. (I liked the combination of cadences including electric wheelchair. 9.12.2001- Football game: Nixon vs. Holmes- Game was in San Antonio; we went to the very empty zoo before the game (how fun..note the sarcasm). We performed our 1st and 2nd pieces during halftime. 9.7.2001- Football game: Nixon vs. South San. We played the first part of our show during halftime; things went pretty good.
